Forschungsschwerpunkte
I am a Kenyan PhD student working on the Hosts and Parasitoid Interactions Project of the Insect Interactions Group.
Species interactions, including that between insect hosts and their parasitoids, stabilize ecosystems across vegetational and altitudinal gradients. The project seeks to report how environmental change, mainly forest succession chronosequence, embodies the structure of hosts and associated parasitoid networks in a tropical rainforest project in Northern Ecuador. Key deliverables will be to determine parasitism rate and parasitization strategies from cavity-nesting solitary bee and wasp species in three major forest gradients using morphological, molecular, chemical and statistical data analasys tools.
